Vision boarding 101: How to create a vision board

Vision Boarding 101: Unleashing Your Creative Potential

What is a vision board?

A vision board is any compilation of images that inspire and motivate you. The purpose of a vision board is to bring energy and attention to whatever it is you are looking to manifest in your life. What inspires you? What do you want to be, do, or have in your life? How do you want to feel? What do you want to bring energy towards? What is it that you wish to create?

Why should I make a vision board?

Vision boards help bring clarity around a specific goal or goals that you are working on. They enable you to clearly define your vision & have something to refer back to for daily inspiration. I love to use them in the beginning of the branding process to get the creative juices flowing & inspire my designs. It is also very therapeutic to create something beautiful and watch your ideas come to life!

How do you make a vision board?

My favorite method is cork board and magazine clippings to create our vision boards, but the possibilities are limitless! You can add clippings or quotes that inspire you, ticket stubs, photographs or anything else you have saved around the house that has meaning to you!

To make a vision board you will need:

  1. Cork board, card board, or cardstock
  2. Glue sticks, push pins or adhesive photo squares
  3. Scissors
  4. Magazine clippings, paint chips, photographs, etc.

Once you have compiled all of your supplies, lay everything out on a clean table or your living room floor! Begin by selecting a few images that you love, and lay them out on the board. Start to notice if you are drawn to certain colors or types of images. Fill in the remaining space on the board with accent pieces and get an overall feel for how the board will look. Make any adjustments to the size of your clippings or images. Once you are happy with the overall layout, start to add glue or your preferred method of making it all stick to the board. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look exactly like you planned, that is all part of the process! Let it dry if you were using glue & you are all set! Admire your beautiful creation and then find a place to put it on display!

What should you do with your vision board once it is done?

Keep your vision board front & center in your office or meditation area, or make it the first thing you see when you walk in the front door! Another great place is next to your bed for daily positive affirmations right before you head off to sleep and when you wake up first thing in the morning! I have mine with me in my office, and it always brings a smile to my face! I hope yours does the same!
